It’s time for another giveaway! (By the way, it’s the last day to enter the US Wellness Meat incredible gift package, so do it now if you haven’t already.) Today we are giving away three books, all of which make great holiday gifts for yourself or for someone else! If you don’t already own these books, these are also important books to own as they go over the basics of nourishing food. I feel that all three of these books fall into the category of “must read”.
The sponsor of this giveaway is Julie from Cultures for Health. Many of you know that she sells yogurt, kefir, water kefir, kombucha, and other cultures, as well as her wonderful sourdough starters. What you may not know is that she also sells a wide range of other products, like books! Her online book store sells the following three books right along with many other wonderful books, like sourdough baking books, paleo books, and more. By the way, Julie is also just one of the nicest people you could meet. By supporting her business you not only get great products for a good price, but you are also supporting a really great lady!
Here is what we are giving away today.
Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon.
The “mother” book for many. This is the book that revolutionized how we thought of “healthy” food. Butter, cream, lacto-fermented vegetables, grass fed beef and raw milk are some of the nutrient dense foods you will find recipes for here with a lot of information too.
If you could only buy one book, this would be the one to buy. I have read through the entire book several times and every time I read it I learn more!
Real Food: What to Eat and Why by Nina Planck
Nina has done a tremendous job in laying out what the best food choices are for us. She’s easy to understand, and systematic in the best sense. Her book has introduced thousands to “nourishing” real food. This book is a wonderful resource to have on hand. That way when you can’t remember why something is better or have someone ask you a question, you can easily flip through her books for answers.
Wild Fermentation; The Flavor, Nutrition and Craft of Live Cultured Foods
By far my favorite lacto-fermented book that I’ve read. Lacto-fermentation is so important for our health, but you need some good guidance and recipes to be successful. This book will give you both. My reference book whenever I am going to lacto-ferment. I say a must have!
If you would like to win these three books, then please feel free to enter the giveaway by clicking on the link below.
This contest will end on December 16th at 11:59 PM PST. The winner will be chosen via random.org, and will be announced on December the 17th. You must live within the United States to enter this contest.
Like all of the giveaways done with my sponsors I will be receiving a small compensation for hosting this giveaway
Thanks Julie for the giveaway of three very important books!

Are you sure the link is correct? Thanks for the giveaway!
I think the giveaway is great, but the link is also confusing me. Where exactly are we supposed to go on that site to enter? Thanks!
Sorry about the link issue! It’s fixed now. 🙂
I’m not sure how to enter either… but the books sound absolutely wonderful!
I am in such an awful food rut. After the birth of my daughter we have been living on prepackaged food and I just feel awful. I would love to have these books to help us get back on track to eating well. Thanks!
I need number 3! The first two would make excellent Christmas gifts…. 🙂
There was an error in the code — sorry!
It is fixed now.
I’d love to win the last book. thanks.
It’s not working for me and I’d LOVE to enter!
Hi RPW,
How is it not working for you? Does the link not show up or does the the link go to the wrong place? On my computer it’s working just fine, so I need to know a little more specifically how it’s not working for you. 😉
The only link I saw was the santa pic which brought me to cheeseslave’s menus by mail. Am I missing something?
Ad blockers will sometimes block the link (go to your preferences for your browser to disable). Other readers have mentioned to me that some browsers just don’t show the link while others do. So you could try using a different browser too.
Sorry it’s giving you trouble! That’s so frustrating.
GREAT giveaway! Thanks for the heads-up!
Now a couple of those are books that I have been wanting to get my hands on, but the library doesn’t have them and the line on paperbackswap is too long!
It’s working now!!! 🙂
It was giving me just a white screen, and wasn’t letting me come back, either.
Lizzykristine – LOL I gave up trying to get “nourishing” books through swaptree. I think anyone who has these books is slow to part with them. I know I am. I must look up something in Nourishing Traditions almost every day – I couldn’t imagine not having it around! That’s why giveaways like this are so great. Good luck everyone!
Wonderful giveaway! Thanks for hosting. (And, I hope I win!)
What a cool giveaway! I already own all three so I’ll bow out and let someone else have the chance. Good luck!
Great books, thanks for giving us the opportunity to win.
Thanks for another great giveaway! 🙂 I have #1 and #2 from the library right now but would LOVE to own both. I’ve not been able to find #3 in the library, so would love to read that! Thanks again!
This is a great giveaway! I would love to win these books. Even though I have the first one (and the second one is on my wish-list) there are several people I would love to give a copy to!
Terrific books – they would go to good use here!
I would love, love to have any of these books. Thanks sooo much for the chance to have them!! And all your giveways, they are great!
I would love to have any of these books. Thanks for hosting.
I was also unable to figure out the link, I was sent to a healthy restaurant guide order site…
But I would love to win this giveaway, I have Nourishing Traditions already and would love to pass it on to my mom, but the other two I have not read yet!
Wow, a trio of greats!
enter me!
Thanks for the chance to win these books, I’ve checked them out from the library and they are on my wish list..thanks!!
What wonderful resources!
Enjoying both websites. Trying to culture my first yogurt though and it is very liquidy!!
Thanks for hosting another great giveaway!
Love to own these. Thanks.
I would LOVE these books! Especially the Wild Fermentation. I’ve been fermenting since this summer and my kids LOVE the veggies. It would be great to have more recipes and info!
Awesome giveaway!
lately i’ve been reading a lot about food (the history, chefs, not to mention the health benefits) and i’m increasingly interested in different approaches and their backgrounds. i’d love to take a look at these books!
Thanks for hosting this great giveaway!
Great books, I hope I win!!!
Thanks for the great giveaway.
You know, I actually have all three of these books but there are some folks I would love to give them to if I were to win. Also, I participated in a workshop on fermentation with Sandor Katz (who wrote Wild Fermentation) when I lived in TN and he was awesome. If you every get a chance to attend one of his lectures or workshops (which are all over the country, not just TN), take advantage of it!
I would love to have all three of these books!!!
I don’t have any of these books, but I would love to. I borrowed NT from a friend and started sprouting oats for oatmeal. But that’s the only recipe I remember, so the book would be nice.
I hope I win, I hope I win, I hope I win!!!
Entered!
What great books to give away!!! I’ve been able to check out two of them from the library, but our library doesn’t carry Wild Fermentation! Happy reading!
great giveaway! i’m really interested in this topic.
I have checked out the fermenting book from the library several times, it’s a great one.
Nina Planck is great too, read some of her articles.
Great giveaway, Kimi!
I love my Nourshing Gourmet. I’ve convinced my sisters to buy it also but can’t get them to live by it. I would love the other two books. I make my own yougurt but I would like to learn more about fermented vegetables.
