Just about a year ago, I released my cookbook, Ladled: Nourishing Soups for All Seasons. This book took a lot hard work to finish, but it was truly a work of love – both a love of soup, and a love of sharing that passion with you.
Anyone familiar with the work of Dr. Weston A. Price knows that nutrient dense broth was an important part of his nutritional protocol. (It’s high in minerals such as calcium and a gut-healing food. As a mostly dairy-free family, broths are even more important to us for their calcium content! Read about its amazing healing power here. ) Anyone who loves to cook from scratch knows that homemade stock is a lovely, beautiful food to work with, and so with an appreciation of both the culinary benefits and the health benefits of broth, I set out to write a book that used it well.
I had a lot of fun working with new broths and new ways to make broths familiar to me. And my family had happy tummies as they enjoyed even more lovely soups than normal like these shown below: Chicken and Shrimp Gumbo, Classic French Onion Soup, Lemongrass Thai Clam Chowder, Chinese Rice Congee, Beef Stew with Dumplings, Butternut and Apple Soup with Ginger, Beef Pho.
If possible, working on a cookbook devoted to soups helped me grow to love soup and stews even more. In this book, I share old family favorites, soups inspired by our favorite restaurants, easy creamy vegetable soups, rice congees, and many more. Here are two recipes from the book to check out. Simple Thai Broth, and Miso Brown Rice Congee. Also, download this preview of the book with three recipes! (It’s a PDF and we kept it lower quality so that it wouldn’t take up so much space on your computer, but it allows you to get a glimpse of the book format. 🙂 )
I’ve been so very pleased with the positive feedback I’ve gotten from my readers and friends who own the book. I am the type of person who gets a little giddy and red-faced by praise, and your kind feedback and certainly made me both more than once! You can read some of the reviews and/or buy it at my Amazon affiliate here.
What I love most about the feedback I’ve received? It’s gotten more people making soup on a regular basis! That was exactly my goal – to make broth-making and soup-making accessible. Because real food should work for real people on a real budget.
My hope is that this book gives you renewed joy in food as you explore the wonderful world of broths and soups, and that your body is even better nourished by that joy.
If you’d like to win a copy, there will be three winners! U.S. winners can get their choice of a hardcopy or an ebook version. For those out of the U.S.. I can offer you an ebook version.

I agree with many of the previous comments, Fermented Foods. I would love to see your next book be all about fermentation.

thank you Kimi! Soup and I have had a lifelong love affair! I purchased my copy of Ladled last year when it was first available. I’d like to win a copy to gift to my daughter (also a friend of soups) as she sets up her own kitchen. The photos, fonts, and format make Ladled a very pleasing and friendly guide which will secretly inspire her to better nutrition (through deliciousness)!
I love your style and taste, and welcome your next book hoping it is more of Dr. Price’s wisdom made palatable.

I would like to see a book about lunchbox options that don’t require utensils or a microwave. Have to pack lunches for work or sporting events at least once a day. I am looking for healthy, energizing options……the typical sandwich is getting boring.
