What frugal and nourishing tips and recipes do you have for us today? Last week’s carnival was stuffed full of great recipes. Wow! I loved Wardeh’s post on making homemade beef jerky using ground beef (so cheap) and I loved Sarah’s recipe for sourdough crepes using starter without a soaking time period. So quick and fast (and cheap too).

I can’t wait to see what everyone has this week!

If you would like to participate, please link back to this post , and then come leave a link to your post here. Make sure you link to your specific post for the carnival, not just your blog. Some of you were having a hard time knowing how to fill out the Mr. Linky form. So here is an example.

I’m glad you enjoyed the jerky recipe, Kimi. I picked up a jerky gun yesterday so I could try what commenters suggested and make it even easier. Got my beef thawed to get a batch going this morning!

For today’s post, I’m excited to share that I finally know how to make perfect homemade ice cream. Our ice cream is now perfect – a soft serve, yet firm and scoopable ice cream without iciness or soupiness. I’ll give 7 tips for perfect homemade ice cream, and also show that high-quality homemade ice cream is frugal.

Hi Kimi – my recipe is one that is a great use of leftovers from our salmon dinner we had one night – salmon omelets with sprouted flour spelt pancakes for breakfast the following day. These omelets were so incredibly delicious, and it was a great way to get in some Omega 3s two meals in a row – salmon, pasture-raised eggs, and lots of butter. Yum! Thanks for Pennywise Platter Thursday!

    Hi, Kimi- thanks for hosting!

Making food from scratch is one of the best strategies for making food frugally, but also for getting high quality and delicious food in the process. I shared a recipe for peanut butter cups that are so tasty that it’s hard to believe they could be good for you, too! But they are!

    Kimi,

I wasn’t sure how to contact you. I’m trying to kick off a carnival and haven’t been able to figure out how to imbed text onto a picture. Could you email me instructions or resources? Though I’m not very technical.

    Thanks!

I have an Mac computer so I use photoshop to add text. Not being a technical person myself, I really don’t know what other options there are out there! Sorry!

    Bone broth’s mineral content…

Bone broth is a great food. It adds flavor to grains, sauces, and soups. If you keep it on hand, you can have an instant meal by dropping a couple of eggs into a hot pot full of broth…….
