A friend of mine is going on a healing diet to deal with some serious health issues. Fresh juice is a vital part of the diet so they need a juicer. I am going to research juicers for them starting today, but I thought I would throw this topic out there to my readers to see if you had any suggestions or help for me.

My first thought was the trustworthy Champion juicers. We borrowed one from a friend years ago and liked it and I know it’s one of the top juicers out there. But since I haven’t researched this topic, I wasn’t sure if there were others just as good or better.

The two considerations we are looking at.

    1) The best juicer out there. Top priority is getting a juicer that really delivers.

2)The second priority is getting a juicer that is easy to use and clean as it will be used everyday.

Anyone have any thoughts for me?

I have read through a lot of the responses but, I still am not sure how the juicers rank. Would anyone like to rank them? It would really help. I have a Champion and a Samson. I use the Champion a lot! I don’t think that clean-up is difficult at all. I rinse the parts in cool water as soon as I’m done. The Samson has more parts to it and they are easily rinsed out as well.
I bought the Samson because it juices grasses, sprouts and leafy greens. It needs to have veggies cut up small though.
I also have a Vita-mix( I love my kitchen toys) I use that to make whole meal smoothies, soups, and spreads(humas) nut butters and milks.

I just bought the grain grinding attachment. I haven’t used it yet.

We have a friend with a Jack Lalanne juicer and it seems we can hardly go over to her house without hearing how much she continues to use and love it.

GreenStar is good. Any juicer is a pain to clean if you are tired or not feeling well. When I got mine I took “easy to clean” out of the equation and went for nutritional value. Green Star can take some muscle to work it. I’m petite and it can be an awkward reach for me. I use a step stool sometimes to get better leverage.

Champion. Easy to clean, lasts a life time. Only downside is it’s weight and size. I’ve had mine for 20 years. Works as new. Makes awesome juice.

Norwalk Juicers (http://www.norwalkjuicers.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=frontpage&Itemid=1) are expensive, but will last forever and are made of high quality materials. It is supposedly the best out there, and those on the Gerson Therapy (http://gerson.org/) buy it for the high amounts of juicing they have to do—very high yield juice, watch the video. Those on the raw food diet are often promoting Green Star’s Green Power (http://www.greenstar.com/index.asp) coming in as a close second, but the cost is much lower than the Norwalk. Raw Foodists typically promote more of the blending route like making green smoothies (http://www.greensmoothiegirl.com/articles/why-are-you-so-in-love-with-green-smoothies/) and the BlendTec is the best blender, with the Vitamix following. The Norwalk Juicer is shown on the movie Food Matters (http://www.foodmatters.tv/) Hope any of this is helpful! All the best. Great blog. I had never heard of some of these foundational types of cooking/ preparing before like nixtamaling! I’m totally going to try that. 🙂

Breville Juice fountain Elite is what I current own. I am VERY
satisfied with it. I have no problem juicing kale, apple, cuc, celery, greens of all sorts, etc etc etc. It comes apart very easily for cleaning.

I have a Breville Juice Fountain too and I finally got over my fear of cleaning an appliance to use it. I love it. Easy to clean, easy to use.

Omega juicers! They’re better than a champion in quality and amount of juice produced, AND they’ve just recently come out with an upright masticating juicer that is self-cleaning, takes up very little counter space, and has a GREAT warranty. Check them out!!

You can find a comparison chart of the top models at http://www.vitalityplus1.com. This compares performance, and tells how much juice each model made using the same amount of produce. After looking at it, I would pick the Greenstar, especially for serious health concerns such as cancer. I picked a centrifugal model before seeing the website. It is very easy to clean, but is not that great for leafy greens…..and those are very important to take in when sick or in poor health.
