What is more comforting, warming, delicious, and nourishing than a hot bowl of homemade soup? There is nothing I would rather eat on a cold and blustery winter day.

Soup is nourishing, yet frugal. You can easily combine what you have on hand-a little of this, a little of that- to make a delicious bowl of soup. It’s a frugal queen’s dream and a nourishing mom’s delight.

For example, the photo I used above was a bowl of soup I whipped together at the last minute, made from some chicken stock in my fridge, some leftover chickpeas I had from a hummus project, some veggies thrown in and some cooked rice as well. Within minutes, my husband and Elena and I were sitting down to a delicious bowl of nourishing soup.

And then, other soups are more planned and thought out at this household. There are some delicious soup recipes and ideas that I am just aching to try out sometime. Soups flavors meld so well, that you can make a flavorful soup with little trouble at all, as long as you use quality ingredients.

I think soups and stews call for a carnival all of their own, and I invite you to get in on the soup sharing fun. (Thanks to everyone who participated in the last carnival-Nourishing New Years Resolutions. It was so inspiring!)

Here’s the plan. On January the 28th, bloggers will post on their own blog their nourishing, delicious, soup or stew recipes, with a link back to the carnival post (which will be posted the night before). After I have verified your post, and double check your link, I will link back to you from my post. From there the carnival will become a resource of delicious soups and stew recipes for the rest of the winter.

If you aren’t a blogger, please feel free to leave your recipe in the comment section. We would love to hear from you.

I will be once again not using Mr. Linky as it is more helpful to you if I provide a direct link instead of using Mr.Linky’s system (it helps your google ranking more).

Finally, make sure that you base your soup on nourishing ingredients!

Spread the word, if you like, and I hope to see you then!

This sounds wonderful, Kimi! I just posted soup using some raw cheese, but will do another soup post in a few days. Good excuse to experiment again. You’re so right — nourishing soups are economical and easy to make. I like making my own broth as well. Good way to use everything in your fridge!
    🙂
I’ll get back with you after I create my soup. Great event!

P.S. My recent soup post was inspired by a meeting of the Price Foundation!

I love soups too and they are a great way for those of us who can’t seem to remember to drink enough water, especially when the humidity is so low in the winter (sigh), to stay hydrated!

    CurryLeaf,

On the 28th (or the night before), I will do a new post for the carnival. Then people can email me or leave a link in the comment section of that post with their link. I will then continue to update my page throughout the day, to include everyone’s posts. 🙂

Kimi, this is a great idea!

I have a question – why do you say direct links work better for PageRank than Mr. Linky? Do you have a source for that?

    Thanks – Ann Marie

Hi Kimi, I’m not sure I understand about how to post it… and I definitely don’t understand the MR Linky thing…but here’s my recipe & the direct link to it on my blog.

      Hi Erin,
I will add you in. i am not using the Mr. Linky. All you need to do is add a link to the carnival post, and you will be set to go. Thanks for joining in. 🙂
