(Pennywise is live! Check below this post.)
I have been test running the above blender the last couple months, and it is amazing. Powerful, sturdy, with a large blender jar, it can be used for such a wide variety of dishes. It has been extremely useful. In fact it ground all of the flour for the dozens of muffins I made for the Whole Grain Gluten-Free Mini Muffin e-book. And Blendtec is going to give one of them to a Nourishing Gourmet reader! I am so excited!
There are 7 ways to enter this contest, but first let me tell a little more about the blender.
While the uses of this blender go far beyond simply making smoothies, you obviously want your blender to do a good job with them! Definitely some of our best smoothies ever have come out of this machine. You know how smoothie shop smoothies have a certain, extra smooth texture? Well, I finally found out that it is from using blenders like Blendtec that give it such a wonderfully smooth texture. In fact, I am pretty sure that some of our local smoothie shops use the commercial Blendtecs in their stores!
What you see above is a kind of sorbet, made with frozen mangos, coconut cream, a bit of honey, and ice. I love the texture, smoothness and flavor. What is neat about the Blendtec is that they have the different levels of blender speed (I think it’s something like 15 speeds) that you can use at will, but they also have little buttons to use for making soups, ice cream/sorbets, smoothies, milkshakes, sauces, etc that are preprogramed specifically for those applications. I have been using these custom cycles and they really do work well!
The other thing that is great about owning a powerful blender is that you can easily make batters in them like blender pancakes from whole grains. The above pancakes were made by grinding gluten-free whole grains with liquid in the blender, soaking them overnight for better nutrition, and then I added the rest of the ingredients in the morning, gave it a quick blend, and poured it out in the pan to make pancakes directly from the blender. So easy!
But you can also grind your own grain in the blender as well for freshly ground flour! I still would like to buy a new grain grinder at some point, but this is doing nicely right now for me. See the below picture for how fine my millet flour got in the blender!
Another great, lovely thing to make with the blender is to make green, vegetable smoothies. The one below used cucumber and apple as the base (the other green ingredient was cilantro, Yum!). You don’t have to make simply just sweet smoothies! I like that they turn out so smooth, instead of fibrous.
I also saw a demonstration where a savory soup was made using raw vegetables, chicken broth, and chips, and it was delicious! I want to try something like it too. You can also make nut butters, ice cream, milkshakes, sauce, batters, and more with this blender set!
Here are the items you can win.
First the blender package is the Total Blender Classic Wildside: Their description: “Large jar with precision-tuned 4″ blade package, Smoother blends, less time—take your blending to the WildSide™!” This nearly 3 quart jar has a commercial quality blade, and I find that the square shape of the jar is not only easy to clean but also easy to pour.
Also included is the “twister jar”. I am so glad that they are including it, as it is especially useful for your super thick mixtures. Their descriptions.
“The newest Blendtec® innovation, the Twister™ jar is designed to blend your thickest recipes, such as nut butters, hummus, baby food, dips, thick shakes, dressings and more! Best of all, the Twister jar is compatible with all Blendtec Home Blenders™.
To use, simply add ingredients and twist the lid counter-clockwise while the blend cycle is running. This twisting motion forces the ingredients from the sides of the jar back into the blade, achieving a perfect blend every time.”
All to say, I was not only excited to be sent my own blender, courtesy of Blendtec, but I am so glad that they have offered it as a prize to one of you!
There are several ways to enter this contest. I decided that these last two contests (one more coming!) would be open to more then just those who pre-order my book, though you will see that you get valuable entries that way too!
