Last week, was the unofficial bean week, my recipe included. It must be that Fall air starting to make us crave bean soups, because it seems like half of us were making bean soups last week!

Be sure to check out everyone’s great bean recipes from last week, but the one I am going to highlight is actually not a bean soup, but a beef stew recipe! Now that I’ve stuffed myself full of beans, I am really for some meat, I think. So this recipe stood out to me! Simple, frugal (though not quite as frugal as our bean soups), and nourishing, it sounds sure to please. Thanks, Moms for Safe Food for the delicious recipe!

Now what do you all have for us this week? Can’t wait to see what you have in store for us.

For guidelines go here and please format your entry in the comment section like the following and remember to link back to this post. Thanks!

Kimi @ The Nourishing Gourmet Five Healthy and Frugal Meals (https://www.thenourishinggourmet.com/2009/07/five-frugal-and-healthy-meals.html) Today I share five meals that are healthy, easy and frugal. They also happen to be family standby’s so you know they’ve been “family approved”. Check them out!

Kimi @ The Nourishing Gourmet

Still in my recent simple theme, today I share my favorite, frugal way to make carrots, in Pan Fried Buttery Carrots. Now this is the way to make cooked carrots and enjoy them too

Amanda @ Rebuild from Depression Here is a frugal protein option that fights depression!

Emily @ Life in Cincinnati Homemade “Instant” Oatmeal Packets Here is a frugal and healthier option to replace the Quaker instant oatmeal packets in your pantry. While the oats aren’t soaked (and therefore still contain the phytates), they are still a better alternative to sugary, extruded cereals. They cook up quickly and are easy to make at work, home or wherever you need to be.

Wardeh @ GNOWFGLINS Homemade Kamut Pasta (Soaked) I think Kamut is a great grain to use for pasta because of its hearty, nutty flavor. We all enjoyed these noodles very much. The first night, we topped them with homemade chicken soup. Then the next day, I reheated the leftover noodles in a bit of water on the stovetop, to steam them back to warmth. We topped those with beef stew.

Katie @ Kitchen Stewardship If you like trying to duplicate storebought dressings, this reverse engineered and healthified homemade version of Kraft’s Asian Toasted Sesame Dressing is definitely for you!

Jenny @ Nourished Kitchen

How to stretch one broiler into five meals – making the cost of pasture-raised bird into five meals for a family of four. Healthy food done cheap.

Melodie @ Breastfeeding Moms Unite! Free fruit is frugal! Alternatives to letting unpicked fruit go to waste. Some ideas to get you started. Also, a recipe for Honeyed Pear Crisp.

Sheri @ Moms for Safe Food
This weeks recipe is one of our favorites, and is one of my bean recipes (Indian Lentil Stew. LOL I’ve served this as a soup, a stew and brought it to a pot luck as a side dish. This is the one my family asks for if I haven’t made it for awhile.

Ren @ Edible Aria Bengal Lentils with Pea Shoots and Wild Pomegranate

A traditional, healing dish of sprouted lentils in a spicy, savory tomato sauce with toasted whole spices, onions, peppers, pea shoots and wild pomegranate seeds. Tasty, inexpensive and nourishing.

Kara @ Home with Purpose

This is a super simple, inexpensive, and fast dish…So Easy Hamburger Rice Skillet

A Modern Gal
A dish for autumn months, when nothing but hearty, spicy, and satisfying will do: Sweet Potato and Black Bean Chili

Amanda, the salmon quiche looks scrumptious! Please let us know the name of the website where the written directions appear. The name of the site appears in little short bleeps throughout the film, but I couldn’t get it written down. Thanks alot.
