First, allow me to excitedly remind you all that we will be doing a themed carnival next week. Please come prepared to share to your tips, recipes, and craft ideas to make nice, but frugal gifts (and nourishing, if you can manage it!). I am thrilled that someone suggested this carnival idea. Thank you! And bloggers, please get the word out about it. Blog about it, tweet it, facebook it, etc.

Secondly, note that we are using a Mcklinky function today! I hope that this allows everyone to get their posts on sooner as well as allowing me to read all of your wonderful entries in a more timely manner. Let me know how it works for you!

Last week, we had some great entries. The two I wanted to highlight were first a delicious looking butternut squash tart that looks fabulous for the holidays, and secondly, a great post on 10 ways to find more grocery money.

I also wanted to apologize to both Ren and Elizabeth G. I just discovered that my computer refused to save their entries from last week (which I put in twice last week!). This has been a problem that has happened several times and I am not sure why. Hopefully the Mcklinky solves this issue. So sorry! To make up for it, I am adding in your entries to this week’s carnival.

I am sharing a simple way to peel a butternut squash – I didn’t realize that many people didn’t know how to cook squash until I started posting about it. So, I’ve added a simple tutorial that will help you peel a squash with little effort.

Thanks, Kimi, for highlighting my butternut squash tart from last week. And, thanks so much for hosting!

Kimi, thanks for posting the beef and barley stew. I really enjoyed the recipe and plan to put this in the regular rotation. I’m enjoying the $1 menu series as well.

I’m sharing an incredibly economomical and nutrient rich dish that can be either a soup or a casserole, a meal or a side. It can be adapted to ingredients on hand and flavored in a variety of ways.

I’m loving your $ menu series too, Kimi!

Today’s post is a great recipe I made recently for a curried, orange, ginger whole chicken. It was delicious. 🙂
