Recap on the Nourishing Frugal Food Carnival
First of all, thank you to everyone who shared recipes for the first part of the Nourishing Frugal Food carnival. It has turned out to be a great resource for everyone! Thank you! It was really exciting to see everyone pitch in and give such great recipes and resources.
I am planning on trying some new yummy sounding bean recipes, like white bean chili, Lentil and egg cups, Arabic Lentil and Rice Dish, black bean wraps and more! There are stews, soups, crockpot dishes, breakfast ideas, and a myriad other ideas for us all to try. I think it can keep us busy for a while!
Now, this Friday, Stephanie will be hosting us as we share nourishing and frugal sides, salads, and desserts. I hope that you can join us for another week of sharing recipes. I plan on sharing a new, savory carrot salad that we have been greatly enjoying and am looking forward to seeing what you all have planned.
Feedback on Future Carnivals
This carnival was so much fun and so helpful, I wanted to get your feedback on future carnivals. What type of carnivals would you like to see or be a part of here at The Nourishing Gourmet?
Would your rather I do separate, very specific ones, or a once a week broad carnival? For example, I could do very specific carnivals. Such as sharing nourishing desserts, a carnival theme of giving frugal and nourishing tips for eating well, or a theme of recipes using one certain food item.
Or I could host a weekly broader carnival such as a Nourishing Recipe Swap, “What’s Cooking” -sharing a recipe you have been using lately, or other broader carnival theme.
What do you think? What would you like to see here? Have any ideas for me?

Personally, I prefer the very specific carnivals. I like that all of the individuals contributions are quite focused. Just my two cents. 🙂

I like the idea of something specific, too, while staying in the “Frugal & Nourishing” category! 🙂
Thanks for hosting this!

Alison and Michele,
I was leaning in that direction, so it was nice to hear your feedback. Any other thoughts, anyone?

I like the specific carnivals – all the ideas you listed sounded great!

I vote for a specific frugal and nourishing topic as well. We did main dishes, and I’m looking forward to side dishes. There could be salads, desserts, snacks, no cook meals, crock pot, meals suitable for freezing, grilling/barbecue, drink ideas, pot luck meals, etc. I really enjoyed participating this week, and liked reading the other people’s contributions, it would be fun to participate more frequently. Even if it were once a month or twice a month.

Ranee,
You have great carnival ideas, thanks for the feedback! I might use some of those ideas in the future.

I definitely like the specifics, but also might like a general one now and then. There might be somethings that fall in the area of ‘nourishing’ that aren’t necessarily recipes, but habits or methods of preparation. It would be helpful to learn how others plan in all the soaking, sprouting, fermenting, etc. into their routines.
I definitely enjoyed the main dish carnival also, and look forward to whatever you plan next here.

I agree with what everyone else said, but wanted to offer an additional idea. What if we added “seasonal” nourishing frugal foods because I am needing some inspiration for how to incorporate nourishing priciples with seasonal eating.
These carnivals are so fun! I plan to participate in the future!
Thanks,
Carrie

Carrie,
Another excellent idea. Thank you for the feedback!

I missed out on the first one, but enjoyed the second. I’d love to see some of these focused on nourishing practices: LF Veggies, soaked grain recipes, recipes featuring bone broth. I’d also love to host around if you need help.
