We all have strengths and weaknesses and that even shows up in the kitchen. I knew two sisters who had a running joke between them about their differences. They joked with each other that one’s family starved because sister number one was too busy cleaning the house and keeping the laundry up to bother cooking anything. The other sister would create gourmet meals every night, while faces needed to be washed, laundry needed to done, and the floor needed to be swept.
Guess which sister I am like?
I love being creative in my kitchen and when you are making from scratch meals every night for dinner, you spend a fair amount of time there. That’s why it’s important to have a well ordered kitchen. Why frustrate yourself in a dirty and disordered kitchen?
Time is money and I know for a fact that I waste too much time looking for this or that in my kitchen. I want to be frugal and wise with my time management too, not just my ingredients. Also, for long term sustainability having a well ordered kitchen is an important step for keeping up on nourishing cooking. If you end up frustrated every time you cook because you can’t find anything, you may not keep cooking!
Yes, it makes great sense to have an organized kitchen, but mine is just not there right now. The cupboards are crammed, my pantry is completely overflowing with my bulk food and I know that I just need to buckle down and get it done!
So I decided that I wouldn’t do it alone. I invite you all to Spring clean your kitchen along with me this upcoming March! We will have five weeks to complete five assignments.
I will post on Monday what the assignment is with a carnival. Bloggers can complete their assignment whenever they want that week, blog about it (show before and after pictures, if you want) and join the carnival. Non-bloggers can leave a comment when they have completed it. I can’t wait! Not only will the carnival keep us all accountable, but I am hoping that we can also share good tips with each other as we organize.
And, I am even hoping to have some prizes to give away at the end of it all with each task that you completed being an entry into the giveaway! More on this soon.
