Our plans for the 4th are still brewing. Meanwhile, I thought I would share a few recipes that are fun to share and great for celebrations.

Persian Watermelon Rose Salad
Floral water is amazing with watermelon. I love this fruit salad.

Fruit Juice Gelatin

Miss jello? This is my way of making fruit gelatin. And it’s quite good and very refreshing on a hot day. And since it’s made the day before, it’s perfect for the 4th.

Sourdough Chocolate Cake
The title says it all. This delicious cake is a crowd pleaser, frugal to make, and it’s chocolate! Pictured above.  Perhaps serve it with some vanilla coconut milk ice cream?

Vanilla Coconut Milk Ice Cream and Chocolate Coconut Milk Ice Cream

We adore both of these recipes. So good.

Old Fashioned Caramel Popcorn

If you bring a big bowl of caramel popcorn to a celebration, you can be sure it will be popular!

Mostly Raw No Bake Macaroons
When the heat is on, it’s nice to have a cookie recipe that doesn’t use the oven.

Chocolate Banana Freezer Pie

Light and refreshing, this cold pie is a hit!

Sweet and Sour RIbs
Messy goodness.

Spicy Thai Salad
Flavorful and healthy

Basil Potato Salad
A potato salad that doesn’t need mayonnaise. Easy, frugal and delicious side to a barbecue.

Red, White and Blue Cupcakes

It is the 4th after!

Creamy Iced Jasmine Tea
One of my favorite ice teas. In fact, I am going to go make some right now.

Those are some of my ideas! What are you planning for the 4th?

I’m on a italian gelato (similar to ice cream) kick lately. I plan on making this yummy strawberry gelato for a refreshing dessert….

Oh, I am so glad you posted this collection of recipes today! My daughter and I are trying to come up with a special muffin to bake this coming Monday (the 4th!) and you’ve inspired us with your Red, White and Blue Cupcakes. Hope you won’t mind if we link back to you as our inspiration. Blessings and a happy (and healthy!) Independence Day to you and yours, ~Lisa

Wonderful recipes, and the photos are beautiful! The sourdough chocolate cake makes me want to attempt a starter again 🙂 I’m keeping things simple this year – so far, grilled meats and watermelon granita are making the festivities!

I LOVE the Creamy Jasmine Iced Tea, too. I’ve been making a jar of it each night to savor the following day. It has helped me quit drinking soda. Thanks for the great recipe!

I made the caramel corn as our treat while we watched fireworks and my family loved it! My cousin asked if I would make her a batch for her birthday. 🙂

I made the Sourdough Chocolate Cake and brought it to our family gathering. We never could have guessed that it was made from sourdough! Thanks for the GREAT recipe!
