Announcing: Nourishing Frugal Food Carnival!

June 25, 2008 by KimiHarris 3 Comments

The dilemma

With rising food costs, many of us are having a harder time staying within our food budget. I don’t want to complain, because I know that we are still very fortunate. But at the same time, I know that I need to get more creative and think harder about how to make our money stretch.

When you add in the fact that we are trying to eat nourishing food (in a culture of sugar spiked, MSG laden, pesticide loaded, fake food), it makes things all the more complicated.

We need your help!

As a way of pooling our resources, my friend, Stephanie and I, felt that it would be helpful for us all if we shared some of our frugal and nourishing meals. We hope that you will be a part of it.

On July 11, a Friday, I will be hosting the carnival. We will be sharing nourishing and frugal main dishes. If you have a blog, post a recipe there with a link to the carnival, and then come leave the link to your post on the Mr. Linky.

The following Friday, the 18th, Stephanie will be hosting a carnival of nourishing and frugal Sides/Salads/Desserts. The same routine applies to that week as well. Go to keeperofthehome.org for that week.

Feel welcome to do more than one recipe, the more the better! If you have older posts that you would like to submit, you can submit them by simply publishing your post with a link to the carnival.

If you don’t have a blog, please leave your recipes in the comment section. They will definitely be appreciated.

So put on your thinking caps, pull out your recipes books, and please join us! I hope that this carnival is helpful to us all as we seek to feed our family well and within our budget.

And spread the word! If you have a blog, blog about this event! You are welcome to use the above logo on your blog. The more people we have, the more recipes we have to share, and the more recipes shared the more we all benefit!

I love beautiful and simple food that is nourishing to the body and the soul. I wrote Fresh: Nourishing Salads for All Seasons and Ladled: Nourishing Soups for All Seasons as another outlet of sharing this love of mine. I also love sharing practical tips on how to make a real food diet work on a real life budget. Find me online elsewhere by clicking on the icons below!
