I have been busy getting ready for my cooking classes ( To everyone who has contacted me about them, thank you for the interest! Just make sure that you have “reserved” a spot in the class!). So today, instead of sharing a new recipe, I thought I would do something I’ve been wanting to do for a while.
I love getting new blogs to follow and discovering new people, especially those related to food and health. But I often don’t have the time to blog shop to find those rare gems. And maybe you all feel the same too. So let’s share with each other!
What cooking/health/recipe blogs do you follow that you like a lot?
I’ll start with just a few of the blogs in my RSS.
First, all of the blogs part of Real Food Media are informative, inspiring and also have great recipes.
Elana’s Pantry is a beautiful site devoted to grain free desserts. She uses agave syrup, which I no longer use, but that’s easy to change! Her baked goods are based off of almond flour.
For beautiful and often simple dishes using quality ingredients, I turn to 101 Cookbooks. It’s a vegetarian blog, but that works for me since we often eat vegetarian food too!
Stephanie, from Keeper of the Home, shares a lot of great information on health related topics, recipes, and life as a mother of two( with another on the way!) from a Christian perspective.
Let’s see, who else?
Two blogs who use the same word, “Nourishing” in their title like mine, include two lovely blogs, Nourishing Days and Nourished Kitchen. Can you tell who we were all inspired by?
So there are a few of the blogs that I follow, now how about you? What cooking/ health blogs do you like? Anyone have a good paleo recipe blog to recommend?
Looking forward to hearing from you!

My All time favorite food blog is Nourishing Gourmet! LOL 🙂 I don’t have a lot of free computer time to read blogs so I have to be pretty picky which ones I spend my time reading…but really yours is great…you do such a great job & bless us with so many great healthy recipes..We love your recipes so much & use them often. I really think you should put out a cookbook of all your recipes! Until then I have printed a lot of your recipes for us to use 🙂 Thanks for ALL your hard work. I am in a season with a house full of little ones, homeschooling, & living in the country that right now I just don’t have time to play around much with recipes, but have a deep passion to feed the family healthy, so your recipes bless us! Thank you again! Jessica O.

Well… sadly, yours is the only one I actually have bookmarked for “instant” access… 🙂 But Kelly the Kitchen Kop, Cheeseslave (although I always feel so intimidated by her! ;)), Local Nourishment is great for local, in-season recipes, and of course, when I’m in a pinch, Allrecipes.com does a wonder for “What ELSE can I do with leeks?!” moments. 🙂

Thanks for the link! One of my favorite blogs – and I think it is seriously underrated – is Edible Aria. He has the best real food recipes on the web. Very, very good stuff.

Katie
She is fantastic!! http://www.elanaspantry.com/
Charles/CampaignForRealHealth.com
Well let’s start with The Nourishing Gourmet, to be sure!
I also enjoy http://kellythekitchenkop.com/ who always seems to pick a great topic to post about and then writes a heck of a piece! I think many will agree that she is a rising star in the world of health and food blogging. Two more, one is http://www.proteinpower.com/drmike/ the blog of protein guru Dr. Michael Eades; and finally, David Gumpert who writes about the politics going on around raw milk. His blog is here: http://www.thecompletepatient.com/
Well perhaps one honorable mention; I would be remiss if I didn’t plug my own blog, no? It’s a news aggregator which covers the natural healing and whole food news. Click on my name at the top of this comment to visit. See you there!

I’ve been reading http://www.fatfreevegan.com for a year or two now. Susan regularly offers tasty, simple and delicious vegan fare. Everything that I have tried has been wonderful. She’s an inspiration! Another fantastic foodie blog is http://www.smittenkitchen.com.

I often read http://www.gnowflgins.com

For entertainment I read http://www.thepioneerwoman.com
Not “health” food but you can adjust many of her recipes.
And of course this blog!
Thanks for sharing.
Kelli
Hands down, gnowfglins!

Kimi…besides yours I love http://www.101cookbooks.com Even though I’m not a vegan, I love Heidi Swanson’s stuff. She has some really awesome cookie recipes and soup recipes. And her energy bar is wonder and so simple to make.

Carolyn – There’s much debate about agave as we are learning. Here’s a report from the LA Times: http://www.latimes.com/features/health/la-he-nutrition30-2009mar30,0,4068006.story
As for my favorite food blogs (great question!):

What a great idea!! I think everyone has named my favorites already. Thanks for this!
Katie @ Kitchen Stewardship
I just discovered 11th Heaven’s Homemaking Haven at http://rtheyallyours.blogspot.com/ and I’m impressed with some of her recipes, especially for breads. Probably could adapt some to soaking grains, but she is at least a whole grain, whole foods gal and fun to read.
Do I get to recommend my own, Kitchen Stewardship, too? 🙂
Jenny
I love looking at http://www.photograzing.com, http://www.foodblogs.com and http://www.tastespotting.com. They have delicious pictures that link back to several good food blogs. I also like http://www.foodista.com, which seems to be growing quite a bit.
Laura
Love my friend Holli’s at http://www.mamahollioniskitchen.com She is big on healthy foods that the whole family will eat – including kids. She also gives great advice on working with your picky eater!
Leah
Surprised not to see this one on your list — thought you gal’s where friends and went to the same church!

Hi Leah,
We are friends! And I love Lindsay’s blog and have mentioned it here before. The only reason I didn’t have a link on this post was because I was trying to limit the posts to food and health blogs, where Lindsay’s blog covers a wide variety of topics. For my Christian readers, I think you would enjoy her blog a lot and I recommend it. 🙂
Local Nourishment
I’ve had to recently cut back my hours on the computer, so I stick to the Real Food Media bloggers, and
Local Nourishment
Eek! guess I didn’t format my HTML tag right, but the other food blog I read is “Women Not Dabbling in Normal”
Rob Campbell
Everyday Gourmet is great – a clever blend of great recipes, travel stories and pictures.
Wardeh @ GNOWFGLINS
Hi, Kimi ~ I just submitted a comment but I think it went to spam ~ too many links? 😀 Thanks.
KimiHarris
Hi Wardeh,
I just checked and I can’t find your comment any where! So sorry, it seems to have gotten lost in cyperspace. 🙁
Wardeh @ GNOWFGLINS
That’s a bummer! Well, all I said was that I loved alot of the blogs listed-including yours. In addition, I added a couple:
http://sustainableeats.com
http://tiffanystable.wordpress.com
http://nurturingwisdom.wordpress.com
Hope this one goes through. 😀

I really enjoy your blog and appreciate your mentioning mine!!! Thanks so much Kimi.

Just wondering if anyone has any information about any negative effects of using agave as a sweetener. thanks!
Meg
Dana
I love your website and visit often. Another cookign blog I love is Pioneer Woman for her tutorials. She doesn’t always use ingredients I would use, but most of what she uses is whole food oriented. I have a Swiss Chard recipe on my blog right now I encouraging readers to try. Growing swiss chard in the garden demands lots of good recipes since it’s flourishing.
Thanks for all you do to share what you’re learning and trying in your own kitchen.

There’s a new food blog that a friend started!

The pictures are stunning, and I love the ethnic twist. My friend’s Korean, so she writes about Asian flavors with a fusion twist.
