“Oh, it is so heavenly here in Washington. It is dry, and a tang of cold, and the air is fresh and golden, and the trees are golden too, and the gutters where the leaves have scatter down…It is not a soft tropical gold but hard and firm and healthy, as though you could dig our teeth into it, like a stinging, fresh cool apple. My heart and blood rise up in it and I feel alive and I want to walk and sing.”
Anne Lindbergh, in a letter to her mother, October 13th, 1929
I feel that Anne described Fall so well. There is something that is so stimulating and wonderful about Fall, when the wind starts to sting a little, the air is so clear, and the trees start to drop golden red leaves all over our walkways.
And the food? The food changes from the bright colors and tastes of summer, to the warming experiences and tastes of apple pie, pumpkin muffins, stews and soups, hot tea and everything warm and toasty.
There are so many Fall dishes to enjoy and celebrate. I can’t wait to see what you all have to share.
For my addition to this carnival, I had to choose between several different recipes, but this one won out (even though it was much simpler then the other choices). I decided to share a simple, delicious and fun recipe for Butternut Squash Fries. My husband and daughter are always so glad to see this on the menu, and I hope you enjoy them too.
Now it’s your turn!
If you want to be part of this recipe sharing carnival do the following.
1-On your own blog, post about your favorite nourishing Fall recipe.
2-Include in your post, a link back to this carnival (you are welcome to use my header, if you would like)
3-Using the Mr. Linky, give your blog name and the title of your post in the first space, and in the second, the link to your post (please link to your specific post, not just your blog).
4-Enjoy browsing through everyone else’s ideas and recipes!
If you don’t have a blog, please feel free to leave a comment sharing your favorite recipe!

What a great idea to make squash fries. We’ve made them with sweet potatoes quite often; I don’t know why we never thought of squash. Thanks! 🙂
Blessings,

Trying Traditional
Sweet potato fries are popular here, I’m better squash fries will be as well.
I posted pancakes, a tip on sweet potatoes, and a couple links. Thank you for hosting, I can’t wait to read everyone’s contributions.

I think that we are going to have to try squash fries this year . . . we’ve made sweet potato (or tried, they generally end up either burned or soggy! 🙂 but that is a great way to try squash!
Thank you also for hosting this great carnival!

Sarah

I love fall cooking. Will be sad when fall turns into winter, my least favorite time of the year to cook.
Mrs. Taft
I made a new link and deleted the old one. The recipe I linked to before is the original recipe that I posted a year ago, and didn’t want to edit for the purposes of this carnival.

That works. 🙂 Thanks!

Alison @ Wholesome Goodness
I missed another carnival. Augh! (It was a crazy day yesterday). I did post my entry this morning, though, so if anyone wants a GF curried chicken recipe with lots of veggies, you can find it here: http://wholesomegoodness.net/2008/10/22/curried-chicken-with-quinoa-and-vegetables/
I’m really excited about all the other entries. It looks like there are lots of great recipes!
Ranee
Looks like I was too late to be part of the carnival, but I have a post up that matches your theme. Thank you!
Teresa
I just started my food blog today and added your carnival before I realized it was closed. I posted a recipe for Kielbasa Sausage Casserole.
Anita
I don’t have a recipe for your food carnival this time. But I did want to let you know that you need to update your link list. My daughter and I no longer do My Home Adventures, but I did start a Whole Food Recipe blog. My name has it linked.
Kimi Harris
Teresa, Ranee, and Alison,
No problem, I added them in for you. 🙂
Anita,
I had noticed that a few months ago, but still!!! haven’t updated my links, I will do so soon and update your info. Thanks!

Hello! I’ve enjoyed following this blog! Last year, I believe it was the Nourishing Fall Carnival, had a soaked pumpkin pancake recipe that became my favorite but I can no longer find it on your site anymore? Can you help me?! Thank you so much! Sincerely, Rebecca
