Cooking is so much more than just following recipes. Those of us who desire to cook nourishing, healthy, homemade food have the problem of finding enough time to cook. A well run kitchen, serving well rounded food doesn’t happen by accident. It entails knowledge of what is healthy, planning ahead, learning to be effective with time, energy, and ingredients. It takes wisdom and mind power to do well.
Let me tell you, I am not there yet. But I am excited about what I am learning and growing in and I want to share that with you in the hopes that it will prove helpful to you as well. I will be continuing to bring you recipes, but I want to do even more than that. With that in mind, I will be adding a few new features to this blog.
Here’s what’s coming your way, here at The Nourishing Gourmet.
Highlights on Food
Knowledge is eye opening and empowering. It helps us make smarter choices, wiser ones. With this in mind, I will start a series of highlighting a particular healthy food. Why is it healthy? What are it’s benefits? How do we prepare it? And, of course, sharing recipes using that particular food.
Nourishing Practices
Along those same lines, I will also be sharing why I practice certain things in my kitchen. Here is where I will answer why I have chosen to soak my grains, eat cultured food, etc.
I have started to get more questions about various aspects of food prep and so will be starting a Question and Answer Post. This will give me the opportunity to share what has worked for me, as well as give other readers a chance to share their thoughts and experiences. If you would like to submit a question, please email me at kimi.harris @ gmail.com
My Favorite Dinner Series
You may have noticed that I share my favorite dinner here and here. I have asked different friends to do a guest post sharing their favorite dinner as well. I am looking forward to learning new recipes and meals from others!
Meal Planning Monday
On Monday, I will be starting a series centered on meal planning as part of Meal Planning Monday. I will give one consideration, helpful tip, or thought about meal planning every week. I am currently working on this aspect of my kitchen life, and welcome you to come along for the journey!

Kim,
I’m looking forward these features on your blog. Thanks!

Kimmie,
I can’t wait for the new additions. It is true, it takes time to cook healthy meals. We spent 3 hours grocery shopping last week…mainly because we’re reading labels still trying to decide the best things to buy.
Last night my oldest daughter who is 12 cooked us a healthy dinner. It was yummy. I’m hoping to post about that sometime later today….we’ll see what happens..no pics this time though because it just didn’t happen.

Kimi,
I think it’s so wonderful you are sharing your knowledge with other women. I have recommended your site to several friends your age and with small children. (Me being a woman with older children).
I just recently attended a conference on natural health care and plan to share what I learn on Erin’s and my blog My Home Adventures if you are interested.
God Bless,
Anita

Anita,
Thanks so much for the recommendations to others! I am very flattered.
Your conference sounded interesting! I will have to check it out on your blog when you post about it! Thanks for letting me know about it.
