Do you remember that scene in Father of the Bride when the daughter Annie breaks up her engagement because her fiance gave her a blender as a gift? Poor guy, he had broken an unspoken rule about romantic gifts: No practical ones allowed! Now admittedly, I wouldn’t have been 100% percent happy with a blender (or a mop) as a wedding gift! But after five years of marriage I must have gotten a lot more practical because my wish lists are always full of practical things!

Sure, I want organic perfume and fair trade chocolate and roses too. But I happen to think that practical gifts that will be used on a weekly or daily basis are romantic too, whether it’s the man or the woman who mops! I know one sweet family who’s dad worked a low paying ministry job. He wore button up shirts to work and so had to iron his shirts every day (he was very particular about his shirts and liked to do it himself). Like I said, they weren’t paid much, so money was very tight. Day after day he struggled with a ironing board that had a sticky substance from his wife’s craft projects on it and a leaking iron. So for his birthday, his wife bought him what she knew he would really  like, a new iron and ironing board. She told us later that he absolutely loved his gift and was so excited about it! Why? Because it made his life so much easier.

And that’s why I want this mop, it will make my life so much easier.

Marilyn from the Urban Homemaker is generously giving away one of the best, most eco-friendly mops you could buy to one lucky reader. And I really want one too.

Right now, we are renting the other side of the house from my parents (their house is kind of set up like a duplex). I don’t even really own a mop (I might have some dusty old thing somewhere), but just walk over to the other side and borrow my mom’s steam mop. I’ve always planned on buying my own steam mop someday, but I may have just changed my mind!

Ann Marie raved about this mop when she gave one away ( she had just bought one from the Urban Homemaker), and said that she liked it even better than a steam mop. That made me take note, because I know that Ann Marie hates cleaning even more than I do. (Well, perhaps for both of us, it’s not hating the cleaning so much, it’s wanting to do other things instead).

Here’s the thing about this mop, it’s a 100% microfiber mop, so it’s picks up “even the smallest particles of dust and dirt, and 99.9% of the germs and bacteria on your floor by just using water.” What that means is that this mop is not only going to make your floor look way cleaner than when you used other mops, but it’s also going to pick up all of the germs and bacteria without even having to use soap!

That’s pretty cool. Ann Marie had asked Marilyn why it worked so much better. This is what she had to say.

“The Norwex microfibers are 1/100 the diameter of a human hair, so they operate like a bionic sponge absorbing dirt and grime, with just water. It is a much deeper clean so doesn’t get so dirty so quick. Chemicals make the surface sticky and cotton mops spread the dirt and chemicals around and are just about impossible to rinse thoroughly, so the dirt spreads.”

So yes, I want this mop and I would even accept it as a romantic gift.  If you aren’t convinced yet, read this raving testimony about it that was sent to Marilyn by a happy customer.

“Dear Marilyn, I have wanted a Norwex Enviro Mop ever since I received my first Enviro Cloth, but felt I couldn’t afford it. After washing my kitchen floor and bathroom floors for a month or two, the mop I had purchased at a large discount store (one of the ones with the individual strands in the head) was so dirty and frayed I felt like I needed a new one!

I washed it a few times in the washer but it got so ragged and was hard for the kids to squeeze all the water out of, that when they would mop the floors they would be wet with dirty water. I finally decided that I could keep on purchasing new heads for this mop every few months, or just bite the bullet and buy a Norwex one when you offered the sale.

I couldn’t be happier with my new mop! The kids can use it with ease (the handle adjusts really small so it’s easy for them as they are still little) and because I just wet the mop and sqeeze it out the floor doesn’t get too dirty. If the floor is really wet, I can EASILY tear the mop off the base (Velcro is such a GREAT invention) and rinse it off, with a touch of soap if it is really dirty and back on the base it goes and my floor doesn’t have dirty rinse water sloshed all over it!

I love that because it is microfiber I don’t need to use any soap and it is still getting the germs off. It is truly the EASIEST mop I have ever owned and I would definitely buy it again, even though the price seems high at the start. I know I won’t need to be buying a new mop head in a few months and my floors seem cleaner.

Oh, I almost forgot. My mop came with a dry mop attachment. I have finally been able to get those nasty cobwebs out of my faulted ceilings and clean the dust off the windows I can’t reach. We have a huge clock hanging in the living room which is impossible for me to take down to dust, but I can use the dry mop on that and it is great!. I can’t wait until I can save up some more in order to get another set of cloths for my walls and counters! The Norwex products I have are truly wonderful and have made cleaning easier and healthier! (no more toxic cleaners)

I would love for you to share my testimonial. Every word is true and I had been meaning to e-mail you and share this even before you asked for it! Everytime I use my mop, or watch my kids mop with ease, I remind myself how thankful I am that I looked beyond the price and purchased it.”

By the way, what I love about Marilyn is her commitment to selling high quality products that she uses and loves herself. I feel that she has a lot of integrity in how she sells her products and what she choices to sell. That means a lot to me.

Norwex is a product line that if my husband wants an easy gift idea, this is it! I love the product line and would love to have them in the house. Mopping is the least favorite activity I have in the house. Partly because of the vinyl in my kitchen, old and white, hard to keep clean. And partly because of the time it takes to get it looking clean again. Sweeping is a good partial cleaning, but not as squeaky clean as I would like it to be. Thank you for the chance!

Please, I’m looking for a mop I had a long time ago. It had a scrub brush on one side and a large rag on the other. You could scrub your floor and wipe it up with the rag. Please show me your mop too. thank you.
