While I can’t say I have absolute confidence in all of the claims of this quote, you have to admit it’s certainly delicious and all those who are “exhausted”, who are nursing, public speakers, or not getting enough sleep or engaged in literary pursuits will certainly enjoy chocolate. If it’s “highly nourishing” and “easily digested”, and fit to “repair wasted strength” and “preserves health” and “prolongs life”, I won’t complain!

Nourishing Chocolate Recipe Carnival

Following the chocolate and banana theme, over at Going Green in a Pink World, you will find a Chocolate Banana Rice Pudding. It looks like it would be easy to make and I love the flavor combination!
Michele, at Frugal Granola, shares a savory dish that uses cocoa powder (Yeah! A savory dish!). The Chicken Mole dish she shares uses simple techniques and ingredients most of us would have in our cupboard. And, even better, it sounds delicious!
Ann Marie (AKA, Cheeseslave) shares a recipe for Chocolate Pots De Creme (French Chocolate Pudding). This decadent sounding pudding would be a perfect special treat for Valentine’s Day.
Kelly the Kitchen Kop shares a recipe for vanilla ice cream with a chocolate ice cream variation. She says its the best ice cream ever!
And then, for a very kid friendly (okay, and adult friendly) recipe, you will find a healthy, honey sweetened recipe for Chocolate Milk at Trying Traditional. This recipe includes slippery elm bark for added nutrition, which I find very interesting! Thanks for sharing, Trying Traditional.
Karen at Cook 4 Seasons, shares a great recipe for a Chocolate Polenta Cake. That appeals to me! I love the interesting flavor combination of corn with chocolate.
Sarah at Sarah’s Musings, shares links to three yummy sounding chocolate recipes for you.
At Rhubarb Sky, Carrie shares a simple, though decadent recipe for Chocolate Fudge Pudding with Agave Syrup. Sounds good!
And then for a gluten free dessert, at Nourishing Fuel, you will find a recipe for very rich looking brownies that are sweetened with rapadura and contain almond and rice flour. Check out Deep Dark Chocolate Brownies for a gluten free yummy treat.
At Turtle Cottage, you will find a recipe for a Chocolate Banana Snack Cake (another banana and chocolate recipe!). This cake is sweetened with rapadura and contains applesauce and bananas for a sweet and fruity flavor.
And Vehement Flame shares a recipe that I read with great interest and delight! A Triple Layer Chocolate Sourdough Cake with Coconut Mocha Ganache. I’ve worked on a few sourdough cakes myself so it was great fun to get this entry.
And then, for a very healthy, scrumptious sounding easy dessert, Charity Grace shares a recipe for a dairy free, raw ice cream. The method uses frozen bananas with your choice of additions (carob, strawberries, nut butters etc), blended together to make an “ice cream”. Sounds good! I will definitely have to try it. (No ice cream maker needed!).
Melissa shares a recipe for rapadura or sucanat sweetened Double Chocolate Cookies at her blog, Faith for the Journey. Yum!
And Jill at I’m Hungry shares two recipes with us today. Marbled coconut blondies and a gluten free Coconut Flour Brownies. Sound great! She used sprouted spelt flour for the first recipe, coconut oil in both, and honey and stevia to sweeten. Great!
Kimberly from Hartke is Online, has a wonderful ice cream recipe (I bet it would go great with brownies!). Her Really Raw Mocha Ice Cream with Cocoa Nibs includes raw milk and raw cream, cocoa powder, cocoa nips and a caffeine free coffee substitute.
At Life in Your Years Blog, you will find a delicious recipe for stevia sweetened chocolate scones (perhaps a perfect addition for a Valentine’s breakfast).
And finally Shirley at Gluten Free Easily shares a recipe for another honey sweetened chocolate milk.

Wow so much chocolate so little time…
I have a Chocolate Scone recipe scheduled to post around 3 ET. It uses Stevia and honey. However I did not include soaking instructions. I only recently discovered this concept and I’m still trying to figure out how to convert my recipes. I’m not sure if it qualifys for your carnival, but I would love it to be included if it does.

Yes, please do include your recipe in our carnival! 🙂 While I encourage people to soak, I realize that it’s a bit of a journey to figure out how to convert recipes (a journey I am still on too), so I don’t require it for the carnivals. Naturally sweetened was the only requirement. 🙂

My first attempt at soaked bread came out way to wet! Then it overflowed.. yikes! It was really good though.

Also, I wondered if you’ve ever used fruit as a sweetener in your baked goods? I vaguely remember very old recipes from the “old world” that only used fruit. I think they were mostly pies, but I’m sure someone has taken it further. I found one cook book but it has no ratios or advice to convert your own recipes. Just wondering. 🙂
