Ever had one of those weeks? You know what I am talking about. All of your plans somehow go astray and you keep your chin above water….barely. Yes, this has been one of those weeks for me! I am not saying that it was a bad week, just a “I am behind” week. I had plenty of time reading and playing with my two dear girls. Just writing, cooking, and cleaning got a little behind schedule!
Yesterday, I woke up to a clean kitchen (via my husband), got breakfast ready, did school with my 5 year old, cleaned the kitchen, worked on a couple of recipes I am developing, and then it happened. A quick slosh of boiling liquid all over my thumb and part of my hand. That hurts.
Oil of Oregano (NOT oregano essential oil-which would burn it more badly!) and raw honey were my great help. I spent the rest of the day babying my hand, reapplying honey in vast amounts as well as Oil of Oregano. I taught piano with it dripping from my hand, had honey splatter as I clapped my hands in time as a student played, and watched with delight as my red, painful, and slightly swelling burn started getting better. It would still hurt if I didn’t reapply the honey and Oil of Oregano often enough, but it was getting better rapidly. That night I slept with my hand well applied with my treatment and wrapped with gauze and this morning I woke up with just a slightly sensitive red mark on my thumb. Amazing.
I am grateful my hand is so much better, but it certainly didn’t have a good affect on my already behind week! I had to deal with a pot and a half of broth I had been cooking, which got left out all night and had to be thrown out and a house that needed to be cleaned even more.
Yup, it’s been one of those weeks!
With me so quiet this week on the blog, I thought I’d share some other places to find me online.
First, I have been writing for MNN (Mother Nature Network) this year, as one of their two food bloggers. It has been a lot of fun. I write a lot more news related content over there. This blog still feels like “home” to me. And my readers here are a whole lot nicer! But it’s been a great experience and I enjoy it. I post there three times a week, so if I am quiet over here, you can always find me there! Plus, I have a cool caricature of myself on that site. 😉
I link to most of my posts from The Nourishing Gourmet, as well as my posts for MNN on my Facebook fan page. “Liking” it enables you to stay up to date with my writings. Of course, I also post random thoughts, inspiration or just share what I am eating that day.
I haven’t been as active on Twitter lately, but I do have an account that gives updates at the very least when I post something new on The Nourishing Gourmet.
Lastly, I have enjoyed using Pinterest (I use the name, kiminharris). It allows me to keep track of interesting ideas and links, as well as sharing them with you all! This has been fun because it shows a little glimpse into other interests in my life.
All to say, I am sometimes quiet here on the blog, but I am often still active elsewhere online!
