Carnivals

Here at The Nourishing Gourmet I try hard to provide consistent, nourishing recipes, tips and information. I love sharing what I am learning about and the recipes I create. But a big part of why I love blogging is the opportunity it offers to hear from others.

I love to learn new things from my readers and get new recipes too! And that’s why I host carnivals. Carnivals are a chance for us all to pool our knowledge, recipes and resources on certain topics.

This provides a topical place to go to for some new ideas on a variety of topics, including, nourishing portable food, frugal food, nourishing desserts and more! Our carnivals are always a lot of fun and I think that we all get new and exciting ideas to try in our kitchens. If you haven’t already, check out the listing of carnivals on the bottom of this page.

And, I welcome you to join us!

Benefits

Not only does this benefit the readers of our blogs by providing a rich resource on one topic (many of my friends have told me that they get many ideas from the carnivals and appreciate them), but it also helps us create a network between the bloggers and a chance to get new readers! In the carnival, my blog will direct to your blog through the carnival introducing my readers to you. Your link to the carnival will not only introduce your readers to my blog, but also to all of the other blogs part of the carnival.

Not only that, but I will continue to update this page to all of the carnivals, so that traffic will continue to be driven to your site.

Who Can Participate

Anyone can participate who loves real food. While there is certainly a gray area in what qualifies as real food, I think that raw food bloggers, those who follow a paleo or “caveman” diet philosophy, vegan and vegetarians, SCD or GAPS followers, Nourishing Tradition enthusiasts, and those part of the whole food, slow food or local food movements are all welcome! In fact, I do hope that some from every category will join us!

Just keep the food “real”-food that has been historically recognized as food in it’s traditional form (For example, avoid soy protein- a newfangled food – and embrace naturally fermented soy sauce, a traditional food.).

Carnival Qualifications

1-You must be a family friendly site. Enough said, you all know what I mean. Also, please avoid foul language or four letter words. We want everyone to be comfortable visiting the sites in the carnival. I know for a fact that I have some young readers. I want my blog to be a safe place for them.

2-To be part of the carnival, please link to the carnival page on the day of the carnival. This allows your readers to find out about the carnival too!

3-Use real food ingredients like whole grains, natural sweeteners, butter, grassfed beef, coconut and olive oil, nuts and seeds, fruit and vegetables….you get the picture. And even better, use traditional methods, like “soaking grains”!

How It Works

I will announce the topic of the next carnival at least one week in advance. This gives you time to try out new recipes and prepare.

Here is what will happen on the day of the carnival.

1-On the day of the carnival, I will post a new post with a Mr. Linky (Mr. Linky allows you to enter your own post into the carnival).

2- All of you will post a new post on the carnival topic, linking to the carnival. If you would like to highlight old posts, feel free to do so by simply creating a new post mentioning the carnival and linking to the older posts on the topic at hand.

3-Then, you will come over to my site and enter your information into the Mr. Linky. On the top line include the name of your blog and the title of your post. On the second line, include the link to your specific post, not just your website’s address.

And that’s it! Make sure to check out everyone’s posts too. It’s always a wonderful learning experience.

I hope you will join us for our next carnival! Consider yourself invited!
